It's nice to see the occasional thing trickle in here. I've been working the job of about 3 people and getting paid the salary of 1/3 person. As soon as I find that little question button to jump on that reverses everything, maybe I'll be able to get back here on a somewhat regular basis.
It was and is always an experiment with me. Failure is simply progress.
Hope all is well with all of you. Continue

I got this idea from neostatic, and I have tried it and it is awesome...Write a haiku....about something, anything...go nuts! When I was ambitious I would write one about every day. Even in text messages I would try to respond in haiku's, trying to keep expressing myself in different ways. It kept life interesting for a while, but I have lost that motivation.
I was hoping all of you could spare a minute or two and write a haiku on here. I'm sure your creativity can spark more in me, keeping hai… Continue
hey all,
i miss the creation from an arbitrary position. when you are expected to "create" something from the standpoint of deadlines and such, it hardly feels worth it. but when i see my last three pics side-by-side, i just have to grin. i realized from an early stage in my geologic academic career that geology and "art" are not too far apart. this is especially true of certain geologic disciplines, such as mine. the scope of my thesis is routed in "comparative carbonate sedimentology." To exp… Continue

This is what I made recently. (Finished it last night, actually.) Long story short, Imogen Heap wrote & recorded vocals for a tune to be used in a film of some sort. For whatever reason it was never used, so she made the vocals available to the public to see what they'd do with it. This is what I did with it.
Creating currency means a new medium for the exchange of something with value. Bills and coins are common, though pieces of paper tallying the amount of debt you've gained (mortgages, home equity loans) and credit have replaced tangible paper/metal.
I started with traditional ideas of bills, characters and symbols:
This was featured on BoingBoing about 30 seconds ago I had to paste it over here so I'd see it more often:
1. There are three states of being. Not knowing, action and completion.
2. Accept that everything is a draft. It helps to get it done.
3. There is no editing stage.
4. Pretending you know what you're doing is almost the same as knowing what you are doing, so just accept that you know what you're doing even if you don't and do it.
5. Banish procrastination. If you wait more than a week to g… Continue
Hey all,
Just a quick note here. The two most recent images I've uploaded ("margaret" and "untitled") are both projects I haven't touched in over 2 years. Over the weekend, I decided to go through my portfolio and sift out the trash from the good stuff, and I came across these two unfinished pieces, both of which I managed to finish these past 2 days.
"Margaret" is a sketch that's copied from a random image I printed off the internet. I divided the image up into a grid and copied it square by… Continue

Today feels like a day of rest, after a month long charge of creative outpour, some of us may feel tired. Don't let this keep you from doing something creative while you are relaxing.
you can:
1. Make a list. List the things that make you happy or the things you want to modify or places you would want to visit or people you would like to speak to or projects you would like to start or anything you please. These lists can be as long or as short as you like. Take moments or hours. T… Continue

During yoga class the other day, my teacher was talking about the theme for the week - finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. She said something about "connection," and that stuck with me. During the rest of the class, I thought about the concept of connection as it relates to Make28.
This project has created many connections, the most obvious being the connections we made with each other. I've really enjoyed seeing what everyone's made, how you've interpreted the concept of "making," and g… Continue
HEY
I just found MAKE28.com!!
An interesting coincidence indeed. Like minded people doing pretty much the same thing in different parts of the world. Far out!
I was determined to paint 28 paintings (8"x10") this month to exhaust the Blue Grey of February. Every February 28, for the past 5 years we've had a February Blues Party. This year I am giving away two Blues paintings to celebrate the end of it. I am soooo sick and tired of this month. Although, I gotta say, if you look really really caref… Continue
I've had this book for a few years - Fearless Creating by Eric Maisel. I noticed it on my shelf the other day and took it to my studio. It sat around there for a while and I've been picking it up every now and then and looking at it. Today I sat down and really started reading.
It doesn't seem like a typical "how to be creative" book. He suggests some bizarre and outlandish exercises. One of them is to work naked. I paint with hot wax. So maybe I'm not so fearless.
I did do one of the exercise… Continue
I'm asking any and everyone who wants to participate (especially those of you who haven't yet) to submit a photo or video of something to inspire all of us to keep going.
It could be something as simple as a photo of you smiling, holding a sign, or giving us a thumbs up. You want to say something to us or play us a song on that old recorder you played in music class? Shoot a video!
Please limit video clips to 5 seconds or so and e-mail your submission to: consumatron@gmail.com by Friday, Feb.… Continue

I so miss doing little silly projects. The band has become so all consuming I don't have much energy for anything else.
I wonder if I can count the show we played Friday as something I made?
Photographic evidenceSuper secret bootleg of the show
Maybe I'll try something visual today since it's my weakest art. Continue
